Yadgiri Tourism




Yadgiri located in the north east part of Karnataka state. Yadgiri was historically known as Yetagiri. The district has 3 taluks namely shorapur, Shahpur and Yadgiri. 
From the historical part the district was ruled by the Chalukyas, Yadavas, and Cholas, Bahamani sultans, Adil shahis and Nizam. 

Yadgiri is a place of full natural resources.it has vast stretch of black soil, red gram and jowar crops are grown hence its  told as Daal bowl.

The river system: Two rivers flows are Krishna and Bhīma.

Climatic conditions: Summer: 40°C to 46°C, Monsoon: 27°C to 34°C, Winter: 10°C to 26°C.

Best time to visit: Between the months of October and February

How to Reach:

By Air:  The nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi international airport Hyderabad 165 kms from Yadgiri.

By Rail: There are several trains from Bangalore and Hyderabad to Yadgiri.

By Road: There is frequent government and private buses from Bangalore it’s about 493 kms away and Hyderabad is about 165kms away from the city.

Places nearby Yadgiri: Gulbarga 78kms, Bidar 162 kms, Kurnool 145 kms, Bijapur 171 kms, Aihole 157kms.

Shahpur Karnataka:











Shahapur is a town and taluk situated in Yadgiri district. The old name was sagar. It’s about 70 kms from Gulbarga, sleeping Buddha hill is made up of four hills looks like a sleeping Buddha this is a nature’s gift and a tourist attraction. 

The place is known for its temples and forts.There are many famous temples situated near by Shahpur.

Chara Basaveshwara temple is surrounded by hills in all directions, Siddlingeshwara temple, Diggi sangameshwara temple (it’s the original place of siddeshwara temple of solapur Maharastra, Bheemarayan gudi temple, Shri Ananthanath bhagawan jain temple, world’s finest ureanium ore base Gogi.


Narayanapura Dam/Basava sagara:





The dam is constructed across the Krishna River.
The dam is surrounded by verdant greenery and serene atmosphere the place also has Jaladurga Falls formed by river Krishna.

Yadgiri fort:










Yadgiri fort is one of the largest forts of Karnataka. The fort is built over 850m long, 500m wide and 100m high. 

This fort has multiple levels like the madhugiri, chitradurga, Bellary and Shahpur forts all these are built over rocky hills. The architectural styles there are Jain, Islamic.



Mailapur, Mailar Lingeshwar Temple:


Shri Mailpur Mailarlingeshwar is a famous temple situated in Yadgiri. The temple attracts lakhs of devotes every year on Makara Sankramana day.

Shorapur Fort:




The rulers of the shorapur was the Nayaks, Shorapur were the headquarters from 1639 to 1857.
Sojourn in shorapur on the hill top, which is a now a center of attraction for tourists. 











The fort of  Vanadurga:

















 Vanadurga originally the name tells us Vana + durga = Forest + Fort fort its was said that the fort was lying in between the thick forest.

As now there is no forest but only a heap of agricultural fields, lies in the vanadurga village in Shahpur taluk of Yadgiri district. The fort was built by shorapur dynasty the village lies in west to shahapur and north shorapur.

Thinthini Mouneshwar Temple:

 














It is a memorial  temple located 20 kms distance south to Shorapur, during the period of Vikramadithya 6th .

It was an education center it was also an ancient temple called as Dakshina Khashi and attracts both Hindu and Muslim devotees. 


Kodekal Basavann:






















Kodekal village is located in Shorapur Taluk in Yadagiri District.  Kodekal Basawanna was a famous saint who wrote kala Gnana.

Other places of interest:

Syed Chanda Husain and Sofi Sarmust Darga: Both are one of the famous darga in Shahpur taluk and laks of devotes are attracted to these dargas.

Bheemanarayan Gudi: one of the famous temple of Bhalabhima sena located in Shahpur Taluk, one can find a lakh of devotes on the day of Makara sankramana in January.

Abbetumakur: it’s a famous temple of Vishwaradhya there are lots of prominent pooja commenced on the day of Shivarathri for this festival there will be heaps of devotees to seek the blessings.
