Raichur tourism


Raichur District is located in the northeastern part of the state bounded by yadgiri district in north, Bijapur and Bagalkot district in the northwest, Koppal district in the west, Bellary district in the south and Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts of Andhra Pradesh in east. Raichur is divided into 5 administrative sub divisions.
Raichur , Sindhanur, Manvi, Devadurga, Lingasugur.  

The River system: The two main river systems are Krishna and Tungabhadra River.

Climate: Summers are hot 39 degrees the best visit season will be October to January.

How to reach:

By Air: The airport construction is a promise unfulfilled to the citizens, basically an extension of existing air-strip near a village called Yermarus. (Around 8 km from Raichur)

By Railways: The city is well connected by trains there are trains from Banglore, Pune, Bhopal, Agra, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad.

By Bus: There is frequent connection of busses from Banglore, Hydrabad.


Places Near by:  Mantralaya 71 kms (approx 1 hour), Hyderabad 205kms (approx 4
Hours), Badami 211kms (approx 4 hours), Hampi 156 kms (approx 3 hours).

Raichur fort:


Raichur fort was built in 1294 by Raja Vitthala the walls are constructed by huge blocks
of well fitted stones, the fort work contains Arabic and Persian language inscriptions on
Bastion and gateways, there are inscriptions about Bahamani and Adhil Shah Periods.  
The Inner fort has number of old mosques, buildings. Anegundi which has a number of 
Monuments from the Vijayanagara Empire, including the ranganatha temple, Pampa Lake kamal Mahal.

Mudgal Fort: 

The fort is located Miles south-west of Lingsugur. The fort main attractions here are the remnants of 
the mudgal fort and an ancient Roman catholic church is built by Jesuits before1557.
